Articulación de Mujeres Centroamérica de La Vía Campesina

Centering rural women farmers' rights, dignity, and access.

Articulación de Mujeres Centroamérica de La Vía Campesina fights for Indigenous, Afro-descendant and peasant women farmers’ rights to life, land, and territory across 27-member organizations in Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador and Panama. Founded in 1991 to combat the effects of neoliberal policies, Articulación de Mujeres Centroamérica seeks to end gender-based inequality and all forms of violence in rural areas to allow women to live life with dignity, and attain food sovereignty through agroecology, the recovery of local seed varieties, addressing climate change, and a fair economy.

They promote the practice of Popular Peasant Feminism as a political framework that can transform women’s lives at the social, economic, and political level. They are part of the Latin American Coordination of Rural Organizations (CLOC) within the movement structure of LVC.
