Young Professionals Group

Thousand Currents’ Young Professionals Group may be for you!

YPG brings together individuals that care about giving back, are dedicated to fighting poverty and injustice, and want to learn more about global development and social change. YPG creates community with folks looking to make connections and build friendships with like-minded people.

In the San Francisco/Bay Area and in Denver, YPG raises awareness of the model of Thousand Currents and its grassroots partners through engaging events and meetings, professional development opportunities, and sharing of information and resources.

All are welcome!

YPG History

In 2010, a board member launched the Young Professionals Group as part of the organization’s growth plan in the San Francisco Bay Area. Its membership grew rapidly with an additional YPG chapter established in Denver, Colorado in 2014. The Denver YPG Chapter wound down in 2017.*

YPG’s initial goals were to to raise awareness and resources for Thousand Currents to support their grassroots partners in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. The group has since evolved into a self-governing entity led by Leadership Committees that develop their own annual goals and plans independent of Thousand Currents, but their their support through a staff liaison.

The solutions emanating from Thousand Currents’ partners help build a more just and sustainable world for us all!
