Asian Music for Peoples’ Peace and Progress (aMP3) is a leaderless collective of progressive and socially engaged musicians across Asia with the aim to amplify popular music in support of people’s struggles. The collective was formally started in 2009. Members of aMP3 were influenced by protest music movements across the world. The vision of aMP3 is to build a movement for peoples’ music through interactions, collaborations and exchanges among politically engaged musicians in the region.

The collective consists of around thirty individuals and groups of artists from Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, Myanmar, Philippines, Timor Leste, and Thailand as well as recent members from Bangladesh and India in South Asia. The collective also includes women and youth artists such as Fay from Indonesia and the all-women  Messenger Band from Cambodia. AMP3 also works closely with other cultural organizations in the region. AMP3 prioritizes working with and for popular movements of farmers, fishers, Indigenous Peoples, and workers.  aMP3’s music and performances cover themes of social, economic, and climate justice.
