Observatoire de la souveraineté alimentaire et de l’environnement (OSAE) is a group of researchers, activists, and civil society actors advancing food sovereignty and smallholder farmers’ rights. OSAE is an independent, Pan-African, egalitarian, and inclusive citizen-based organization.

Using  research-based advocacy approaches, OSAE advances food and environmental rights and sovereignty in policy alternatives, and  engages citizens and civil society organizations through the dissemination of research results. Through campaigns and popular education, OSAE is dedicated to supporting movements against global food and agricultural market regulations, free trade agreements, and major international organizations, including the World Trade Organization and international financial institutions. It advocates for sustainable peasant agroecology, emphasizing its dual role in nourishing people and safeguarding the environment, biodiversity, and natural resources.

Additionally, OSAE advocates for food policies, nutritional policies, and agricultural practices that prioritize the right to a healthy and balanced diet. OSAE employs a multifaceted approach to advocacy centered on research-based campaigns and popular education initiatives.
