It has been said that you never get a second chance to make a first impression. Whether that’s an in-person meeting or a digital encounter, those first few moments with anything new can have lasting power. Today we’re marking a milestone in this journey as we launch our new website, the culmination of two years of work to dissect and reimagine Thousand Currents’ identity.

With nearly four decades of history supporting grassroots groups in the Global South, Thousand Currents has continued to grow, change, and evolve over time. Our revamped visual brand is an intentional effort to communicate how we approach our mission and vision for the future more clearly.

As key actors holding positional power and privilege in the philanthropic ecosystem, we recognize that change is never easy. It continues to take different forms and shapes as time passes by, which we see as symbolic of ocean waves that continue to move and meander back and forth. As you will notice, our refined logo still has the rolling “ou” waves that symbolize these ebbs and flows of systemic change. But we also added three new elements: an updated font, a joined “rr” to capture the interconnectedness of our work, and a right-aligned cascade for “Currents” that is meant to intentionally disrupt the status quo.

Along with an energetic new color palette, we have also updated our tagline with words that we believe capture the spirit of global solidarity. Collective power, collective change is both an acknowledgement and a callout. It is an affirming reminder that we cannot achieve any of the changes we dream of without doing so together. It helps us uphold the community that we believe has the potential to shape our global future.

We invite you to take a look around our new website and explore all the ways in which Thousand Currents is collectively accompanying our movement partners to build towards a world of climate justice, food sovereignty, and economic justice. From a new searchable partner directory to streamlined resources for donors, and much more —  we hope you will take advantage of this chance to form a newfound impression of us: one that emboldens your understanding of who we are and what we do, and deepens your commitment to support our work.

We’d love to hear from you, so please message us and let us know what you think about our new look.
