Federación Nacional Sindical Unitaria Agropecuaria (FENSUAGRO) is a union-member organization made up of farmers, farmworkers, Indigenous and Afro-descendant community members in the rural sector advocating for comprehensive agrarian and land reform and the rights of Colombian peasants to live and work the land. It includes 52 member unions and 23 peasant associations with more than 80,000 families in 22 states.

Founded in 1976, FENSUAGRO is the oldest peasant-led organization in Colombia, and one of the oldest members of South America’s La Via Campesina. For generations, rural Afro-Colombian and Indigenous peoples have worked without land titles, which big agribusinesses, transnational extraction, and large-scale wealthy landowners take advantage of to acquire land.

Today, FENSUAGRO’s activism has been met with brutal violence, from death threats to assassinations. Social movement leaders in Colombia’s peace process are being killed at a rate of more than one victim per day, and 38 FENSUAGRO members have been murdered in the last four years.
