Youth for Tax Justice Network

Youth for tax and economic justice

Founded in 2017 during the Pan African Conference on Illicit Financial Flows, the Youth for Tax Justice Network (YTJN) is a Pan African network working to increase and deepen the participation of young people in state and subregional economic governance. YTJN’s mobilization in Africa is to amplify the voices of young people in resource mobilization (taxation), strategic allocation (budgeting), and accountability (citizen-centered services). Their goal is to shift the participation of young people from the periphery to the center by ensuring that young people are equipped with the knowledge, tools, and opportunities to advocate for tax systems that are fair and just. It ensures the participation of young people in decision-making spaces on natural resource management, and advocates for equitable and ecologically conscious development in Africa. YTJN’s tactics include youth campaigns and policy advocacy on aid, trade, debt and tax, ensuring that young people are fully engaged in the cycle of policy making.
