Born and raised in Brazil, Amanda Fernandes has a bachelors and teaching degree in Sociology from the State University of Campinas. Passionate about social justice and with an academic background and a hands-on profile, Amanda joined Thousand Currents as Grants Operations Manager to support the grantmaking processes. Prior to joining, she supported the regional programs of Rights and Resources Initiative, a US-based non-profit that supports grassroots organizations working with land rights and community-based solutions. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading and eating.
