Âurea Mouzinho
Program Manager, Africa
Âurea is a feminist economics thinker and doer based in Luanda, Angola’s coastal capital city.
For the past decade, she has worked at the intersection of research, activism and movement
building to advance decolonial visions of economic justice. Prior to joining Thousand Currents,
she was the Campaigns and Policy Advocacy Coordinator for tax and gender at the Global Alliance for Tax Justice. Before that, she was the Economic and Social Justice Program Manager at the Open Society Initiative for South Africa. She is a co-founder of Angola’s first feminist collective (Ondjango Feminista) and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Association of Women’s Rights in Development (AWID). As a new mom to a gemini boy, Âurea is happiest on slow days at home with her young family, and in the company of her books, pots, and plants. She holds a Master’s of Development Studies from SOAS, and graduated with honors from a Bachelor’s in Economics from the University of Cape Town. She occasionally tweets @kitondowe.
