Zanele Sibanda is the Vice President of Global Programs at Thousand Currents. She has spent her career working for social and gender justice. In the early part of her career, she worked on theoretical frameworks of community-driven development and put them into practice at a racial justice organization in Chicago, and a women’s rights organization serving rural women in her home country of Zimbabwe. In the last two decades she transformed the partnership model of Firelight Foundation, and provided leadership in participatory grantmaking to We are Purposeful and Fenomenal Funds. She is a member of the Grants Review Committee of the Black Feminist Fund.
