Krista Walton Potter
Director of Communications
Krista Walton Potter (she/her/hers) is the Director of Communications at Thousand Currents. Krista is a committed feminist activist, and firm believer in the power of art and storytelling to influence social progress. At Thousand Currents, she leads communications, content, and marketing strategies as part of the Philanthropic Partnerships and Influence team.
Prior to joining Thousand Currents, she worked at Global Fund for Women where she led the organization’s strategic communications campaigns; created and co-led the Artist Changemaker program to fund artists working within and alongside gender justice movements; and was a part of the core creative team that produced the Emmy-award nominated film series Fundamental: Gender Justice. No Exceptions. Her work at International Museum of Women (one of the world’s first digital museums) included creating award-winning online exhibitions featuring the art, storytelling, and thought-leadership of women and girls from around the globe.
Krista began her career as a writer and journalist. Her writing has been featured in the Washington Post and alt-weeklies from Los Angeles to Washington D.C., and in The Maui News, where she had a brief stint as a general assignment reporter for her hometown newspaper. She attended the University of Southern California, where she earned a B.A. in English Literature and a minor in Fine Arts – Photography.
