Oluwaseun Adekugbe
Manager, Institutional Partnerships
Oluwaseun Adekugbe (she/her/hers) is the Manager of Institutional Partnerships at Thousand Currents. Born and raised in Nigeria, Oluwaseun is passionate about leveraging trust-based philanthropy and cross-sector collaboration to drive transformative solutions. Her work focuses on advancing approaches that prioritize intergenerational equity and community leadership. As an undergraduate, Oluwaseun led research on community awareness and perceptions of the REDD+ program in Nigeria, working on translating complex climate policies into accessible information for Indigenous forest communities, ensuring their understanding of how such initiatives could impact their livelihoods. She later earned a double master’s degree from the Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters Programme, specializing in Conservation and Land Management at Bangor University, UK, and Forest Ecosystems, Nature, and Society at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. She also holds a BSc (Honours) in Forestry from the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Nigeria. Before joining Thousand Currents, Oluwaseun worked as the Managing Director of Youth4Nature, where she successfully led a team that raised over $2 million to strengthen youth leadership in the climate-nature agenda and empower young changemakers to develop system-wide solutions to the climate crisis. She also sits as a Steering Committee Member for Young Professionals for Agricultural Development(YPARD).
